Factory dedicated to the production of synthetic resin from natural resin. According to various reports, this company has been operating since approximately the 1950s. Since the beginning of its activity, drums containing waste or various raw materials were buried and later excavated. Historically, discharges also occurred at the factory’s wastewater treatment plant (EDAR). The historic contamination hotspots were removed and sealed with concrete.
A groundwater monitoring and control program has been implemented to assess the evolution of the contaminants present. The following parameters are monitored: TPH, BTEX, PAHs, aldehydes, dioxanes [AC1], and free phase. The contamination plume around points where free phase presence is detected (MW-4 and MW-7) is also delineated, with the installation of 2 additional monitoring points.
Currently, actions are carried out using MPE, in relation to the established environmental improvement. The objective is to reverse the environmental situation of the subsurface at the site where a minimal presence of free phase was detected, as well as concentrations exceeding the defined target levels.
