Investigation + QRRA (quantitative residual risk assessment) + waste characterization

Conceptual framework

  • Urban area with a contamination hotspot from former petroleum facilities
  • Former 15 m³ diesel tank used for boilers
  • Currently a children’s playground and surface parking lot
  • Adjacent underground parking with hydrocarbon seepage
  • Excavated soil: 158.4 m² → contaminated soil: 15 m³
  • Separation of contaminated and non-contaminated materials. Non-contaminated materials are reused on-site for excavation backfill. Contaminated materials are properly managed.

Actions Taken

  • Preliminary and detailed site investigation
  • Waste characterization
  • Removal of former petroleum installations
  • Selective excavation and management of contaminated soil
  • Environmental Site Supervision (DAO)
  • Restoration of the urban environment
  • Quantitative Residual Risk Assessment (QRRA)
